Public stroke awareness among Gharbia governorate inhabitants: a cross-sectional study

Abstract Background Stroke is the most common acquired neurological disease in adult population worldwide with an incidence of 16 million new cases every year responsible for about 6.1 deaths and 130.6 disability-adjusted life-years (DALYs). The objectives this work were to study level stroke awareness proper response suspected patients urban rural areas Tanta City, Egypt. was conducted on 1869 Egyptian Citizens; 908 961 reside areas, respectively, who submitted a face-to-face interview using questionnaire (Arabic version). Results Rural participants showed significant reduction acute cerebrovascular (CVS) knowledge including affected organ by CVS, what are risk factors, early symptoms, there specific treatment ischemic stroke, reaction when confronted case CVS? Conclusion Urban populations have better recognition CVS compared people possibly due socioeconomic status higher educational levels.
